While browsing on the internet for some voltage converters and transformers, I have happened to discover some 2000W pure sine wave voltage converters marketed to North American travelers that seemingly convert AC frequency from 50Hz to 60Hz. I am thinking that they might be beneficial for collectors who live in 50Hz countries that collect North American magnetically ballasted fluorescent and HID fixtures and want to use the original ballasts. From what I have researched, Epicka is one of those manufacturers that seemingly manufactures these voltage and frequency converters.

So far, I have not tested one of these units yet.

In my research, I have not found evidence of voltage converters that are marketed toward 50Hz markets that convert 60Hz to 50Hz as I would love to find ways to operate 50Hz lighting without needing to buy an AC to DC power supply to run a 50Hz pure sine wave inverter or import a portable power station intended for a 50Hz country.

Interesting to do a teardown and see how many corners they have cut to fit a 1700VA converter into a such tight space, with all sockets, extra USB charger, and all regulatory necessary filtration. And just for $90 retail. Though, I think it is doable with modern power transistors and magnetics. Today's server power supplies at 12 and 48V are even more compact for such a power. But are not $90 of course )

This solution competes with using a surplus dual conversion UPS which often can be set to do 50 -> 60Hz (or even 60 ->50)conversion, even with dead old batteries. These UPS can be found just for scrap metal value, but for sure are much more bulky than this gadget.
