http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1QPy2Tb37U I like this because of the diffuser and it's using a 36w PLL lamp. This original sate it is in could use an upgrade. Changing it to magnetic preheat start and tube colour to CoolWhite 4000K I also want to change the tube clips which are metal and are too tight so it scratches the tube so it will be plastic type if I can find those.

I would stay with metal clips, plastic ones degrade (by light and heat exposure) and become very fragile after few months...

I was thinking that too but still the clip has to be replaced because it is quite rusted I have removed the tube after some struggle and replaced the electronic ballast with a magnetic ballast and starter..:).    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vr_1oHEL_TM       http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTNk641hrKE

You should use metalclips made of stainless steel. Vossloh-Schwabe is making them for instant...

I hope it is by them when I get it at the shop tomorrow don't want another china crap that came with this. I have opened up the electronic ballast   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPuHAc4M85s  looks like they made cutbacks on some components.

Clean the old clip from all old paint and mainly rust (sandpaper would do the job) and then put a heat-shrink tube sleeve over it. Only if you expect outdoor (i mean out of the living place - so or humid or with changing temperatures) operation, put an protective paint on it before the sleeve.

This sleeve would then protect the tube from scratches and possible glass electrolysis problems (if the clip would be electrically connected to the grounded fitting).
If this sleeve become fragile over time, i would be of no problem, as it is the metal inside providing the mechanical strength...
