| I recently ran into a 150W induction ballast and picked it up just cause it was cheap. It is a Fulham High Horse ballast for circular or rectangular lamps. I have neither of those lamps, and I don't plan on buying them unless I find a really good deal, not that I am exactly looking.
I would like to do some experimentation with it, but I am not sure where to start. I know typically two toroidal cores are on opposite sides of the lamp, each with a few turns of wire that are put in series and then connected to the ballast. How do these work internally? Does it have some sort of ignition spike in voltage in the coils to strike it? Is is constant current? What kind of inductance do I need for the load?
I can't find much documentation on these, and I don't think Fulham has them on the website anymore. Can anybody help? What can I do with this?
I don't have a picture of it but next time I go home I will take one if necessary.
