New Gallery Feature, For Sale/Trade Album « on: September 15, 2026, 10:50:35 PM » Author: LightBulbFun
You will notice there is now a new For Sale/Trade Album in the gallery album list

I thought it would a good idea to have something like this, for every collector will at some point end up with a lamp or fixture they don't want any more or is surplus to requirements or end up in that classic case where to get 1 example of a lamp you had to get a whole box of 30 and now you have 29 extra ones you don't really need!

So I thought a means to tag an upload as being something available for sale/trade would be a good idea.

The way this feature works is that when you go to upload a file or edit the description of an existing upload, there is a check box you can click, which will add the "For_sale" tag to the upload and automatically add it the for sale/trade album in addition to the normal albums it may reside in.

This way any upload past or present can be added to or removed from the "For sale or trade" album with just a couple clicks and without removing it from any other album its currently in.

For example lets say you have a case of tubes you got and uploaded to the gallery a few years ago, which you decide you now want to offer up for trade, you click on "edit file information" then click on the "for sale/trade" check box and save the changes and it will be added to the for sale album, then once you have traded or sold however many tubes from that case you want, you can then uncheck the box and save changes to remove it from the for sale/trade album.

Hopefully this will better help fellow lighting enthusiasts exchange items, move on surplus items and in return find something they are looking for.

Let me know what you guys think of this new gallery addition! :)

(PS we also decided to give the off-topic album a thumbnail just to keep the album section nice and symmetrical)

I think it's a great idea and hopefully members will be able to exchange lamps or fixtures more easily now.
I know I have plenty available that this new feature would make it easier to post them.

That is a really epic idea, as I've got a decent amount of rare lighting that I definitely want to sell and trade.

This is an excellent idea!
Hopefully it will encourage more enthusiasts to trade and sell their duplicate items.
I will be sure to make use of this feature.  :)

Sounds like a fantastic feature. I have just one thought.
There might be times when one makes the sale/trace and forgets to update the album listing. Maybe add a periodic expiry for the sale listing or ask for renewal confirmation via email, maybe something like 365 days, to prevent confusion.

good to hear others think this was a good idea to implement as well :)

funnily enough that was/is something we where discussing while implementing the feature etc, we probably wont add an expiry, because I can see some items that people may well want to have  listed as for sale/trade for multiple years

for example th and 40W SON's I have popped in there, I have such a quantity of those 40W SON's, that I can imagine ill have many surplus to sell/trade for years to come!

but indeed some sort of system that pokes the user of an upload thats been tagged "For sale/trade" for a fair while to remind them "dont forget to you still have this item tagged as FS/T, dont forget to untag it if it no longer is FS/T" is not a bad idea, we will discuss it, of course theres lot of little nuance with things like this, like how to implement it, and the effort of implementing it, so I cant say exactly when/or even if exactly such a feature addition to the for sale Gallery will be added, but do rest assured it is already something we have been discussing :)

@LightBulbFun
One way this could be done is adding a sub-checkbox under the FS/T option for an image, by default off, "This listing does not expire automatically" with a default expiration of 500 days or such. On checking it, you get a textbox/dropdown where you can select how long you want it up for sale. Of course, in your time and convenience, and it's just a suggestion; so if anyone else has a better idea, go right ahead with that if you decide to ever implement something like this.
Thanks for the response!
