Is this fixture rare? « on: November 06, 2026, 10:10:26 PM » Author: Emersyn
I have a 2020 Cooper Metalux 4x F32T8 Commercial Grade wraparound and I was wondering if it's rare at all? Especially since it was made so recently.

It seems to be made kind of late for a 4x F32T8 fixture and it's surprisingly well made. I don't think they really ever changed the design since the ballast cover says rapid start lamps only. It's also identical to my 2013 one, except it came with a commercial grade ballast. And the box design is less fun, but that might just be since it's commercial grade.

They're not rare considering that they're from one of the major manufacturers and like you say, the design hasn't changed over the years.  The lenses despite feeling sturdy are prone to cracking, but otherwise I'd say they're decent for a modern fixture.  Home Depot still indicates that the 2-lamp model is available to order.

Ah, I meant specifically it being a newly made one since I didn't think that fluorescent fixtures (especially an older design) were still being made so recently. I have two of these (2013 and 2020) and the 2013 one's lens got really damaged before I got it. Somehow it got really squeaky when you open it. I'm wondering if besides ballasts and labels, if there's any difference between the residential and commercial grade ones...
