eBay.... « on: February 09, 2014, 11:32:46 AM » Author: FrontSideBus
It's amusing at how many of my photos from this gallery are turning up on eBay auctions!  Anyone else noticing this?
I don't mind like, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, or so they say...

The thing that I don't like is when seller is too lazy to post the actual pic of the item. I guess to them a lamp is a lamp but I like to see the actual item I am buying! I want to know if it is a vintage or not, the brand, and don't want a cheapo knock-off.

This is called copyright infringement, when the sellers copy and paste pictures of LG members, without their permission, into their acutions and don't gives a credit...

I like seeing the actual item as well. I remember a while back, there was a seller selling key blanks. They were of the Sargent brand, of different keyways (the shape of the keyhole and the profile of the key must match). Since they were all different, they were all in different listings. However, the picture was the same for all. I don't think the picture was taken from someone else, but it was the same for all although the products were certainly not interchangeable.

Another pet peeve of mine is pictures so blurry that you cannot make out exactly what is listed.

Here's another thing I hate...when a seller pukes out a bunch of "technical jargon" to convince you that the item in question is top of the line.  I came across a mercury vapor fixture today. The seller attempts to explain that his fixture is "HPF" (High Power Factor) and is more efficient than regular big box store fixtures. However, the one shown is indeed a big box store cheapo...and is NOT HPF to boot. I've bought one of them before. They under-drive lamps and are overall....cheap. So, if you read his description, you will be misinformed about "Power-Factor".

Might be a good idea to start "water marking" images so people can know their origins..

This is an excellent idea .. one advantage, I suppose, of not having many pictures uploaded is that it won't take me too long.
