What are these? « on: March 25, 2014, 10:16:22 PM » Author: refridgedude1841
What the heck are these? F96 T8?  And they look to have an incandescent spot at the ends too or something.

These are Mitchell fixtures I think, at least that is what the label said, but not the Mitchell Modules.
I think Mitchell Modules were made later than these.
These may be early attempts to integrate spot lighting and Fluorescent.
Ballast said for use with two 96 inch T8 lamps.

May someone has more information on these.

The idea of the Mitchell Modules from the 1950s is to integrate incandescent spot lighting with Fluorescent fixtures for stores and new car dealer show rooms.
I have the Mitchell Module catalog I got off of e bay.
But no date on it, but it was from the 1950s.

Those are designed for the "old" F96T8 lamps at 300 mA. The modern lamps that run on electronic ballasts are the same size and run at 265 mA, I believe. I don't know if it would be harmful to the ballast to use the new lamps, but the lamps would certainly be overdriven.

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.
