Good lord. And he put the price up another $100 since you posted this! You'd think someone trying to sell a slab of surface-rusted metal for $1000 would at least *try* to take more than three blurry pictures. I'd never know what it was if the title didn't say so.  :P

The only thing I can think of is that some are into the theory that if you put a ridiculous price on something, such as vintage or rare, it is more likely to sell. Strangely, there seems to be some truth to that from what I've heard.

Possibly. First thing I ever sold on eBay was a dirty old Sega Master System II with no games. I figured it wasn't worth anything, but I decided for kicks to put $35 for the starting price. Sold for $75.  :o :o
