Are there fixtures or lamps you want to collect that are from outside your own country?

I'd like some of the Canadian mercury, incandescent, and fluorescent luminaires.

@Tudorwhiz: How about a PHILIPS XGS103 with LPS 18 or 35watt.
I post a picture today.
The question will it work in your country? It needs 230V.

Do you have many of these fixtures?  I have the means to run such fixtures.  Actually I can run pretty much anything save three-phase devices, and I'm working on that :).

It is possible for me to try turning it on by somehow doubling the 120 volts or something

I wouldn't want the 35 watt but ill love the 18 watt one.......ill have to think what to trade for it.....but I would mroe than love to have a 18 watt LPS Philips fixture

How big is it???

Doubling the 120V?  How do you plan to do this?  The only way that will work is with a transformer.  You should look for a variac that has a range of 0-250V with a 120V primary.

tell me...how  does a dryer 240 volts get it??? I heard they were doubled by two 120 volts.......

oh well

then I'll get a transformer thats 230-240 volts somehow....but still...man I'll love to have another country small LPS fixture of 18 watts!!!

(edited)

OH you know the open voltage of a mercury vapor ballast is about 240 volts...I could use a merc ballast...right???

Mercury vapour ballast will NOT work.  Don't try that.  The open circuit voltage is different from the closed circuit voltage.  Also you are not guarnteed to have the proper voltage.  Your best bet is to run it on a 240 circuit or buy a transformer.

yeah.......I guess the only way is to buy a 230-240 volt transformer.....well if I ever get a 18 watt LPS fixture from another country then I probably will buy or somehow get a 230-240 volt transformer
