Wanted: 5000k or 5500k F15T8 lamp « on: December 11, 2015, 01:22:31 AM » Author: themaritimegirl
The Indonesian GE daylight lamp that I've dailyed for over a year in my manual preheat desk lamp is going mercury starved and has become very dim. I'd like to try a 5000k or 5500k lamp as a replacement, but no stores around here carry any, and by the looks of eBay and other online retailers, I'm going to pay at least $20 just to get one lamp. If anybody can spare such a lamp for a better price (shipped to Canada), I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks!

I went to my local RONA hardware here in Quebec & was pleasantly surprised to find two types of Sylvania daylight F15T8s, with over 40 lamps on the shelves. There was a premium Daylight (not sure of the K°) in individual sleaves, at just over $9CDN, & an ordinary Sylvania bulk-no package Daylight with 6500K on the etch(!), for about $8.69CDN. There were also warm Kitchen & Bath (KBs) F15T8s readily available. Try a bigger store in your area and I'm sure you'll find daylights. What I can't find are new F15T8 Gro or Agro tubes..got some?

I've never seen a Sylvania "Premium Daylight" lamp - even Google didn't come up with anything!

Oh yeah, I can find plenty of Daylight lamps, but it's 5000k or 5500k lamps I'm looking for.

I don't have any F15T8 plant/aquarium lamps, nor do I recall saying any in stores recently.

Two years ago I bought several Philips Natural White tubes (aka. Natural Sunshine, Natural anything else) for my Dazor desk lamp. I bought them at my local Home Depot, but if they're no longer available there, you should find them easily online -- it's worth the price. They're "full spectrum" tubes, so you get a 5000K light, plus a high colour rendering with deep reds that look amazing (the tint is way much nicer on the F15T8 than on the F20T12, while the specs and the product name are the same).

Canalite and Bulbspro (both Canadian online stores) sell a tube that is very close to the CCT you're looking for: Industrial 5720K Daylight CRI>90.
