It's an MV lamp with phosphor on only one side of the lamp!

High bay lamp with a clear front, I use it as an uplighter, but recently put it in storage to save the hours, replaced with a really large CFL. I use a pic of it as my avatar.

I am just like most of the members here, my favorite is MV! It still puzzles me why people actually like HPS.....
I am not an HPS hater, I just don't think HPS is good for streetlighting, they actually made roads harder to see in a bad rain, makes the paint marking harder to see, like that day when I drove in a PEPCO area in rain, most of the area I drove was HPS and man I couldn't see the markings on the road at ALL, but as soon as I entered BGE area, which was in a MV road, man it was so much easier to see (that time there was a recent group relamping so the road was brighter with less dimmed out mercs)
However HPS does help break through fog but is not needed most of the time as fogs don't come often.....the problem with AZ as it's mostly HPS, they don't experience much rain to actually experience HPS lighting during bad dark rain! Snow is a different story.....but wet roads + HPS hard to see!
I would change HPS to CMH or I would actually like fixtures that has 2 lamps, a HPS and a CMH....and use those depending on the weather, such as using sensor and if it detects fog, power up the HPS!!!! and other wise use CMH! Detect rain, power up the CMH!
That's what I think should happen, if that happens, the linemen will have better job security since they may need to maintain the sensors!!!

I like clear MV the most, that's why I always stockpile clear MV lamps, I'll have plenty of those as they get more scarce because of the stupid ban.

I like MVs and CMH! But of course HPS!
CMHs are still very rare in Switzerland. But becoming popular since the introduced Philips Cosmopolis CPO-TW lamps.

Hmm, i think the one i like is Metal Halide. Nice clean white light! then MV, then HPS. I dont really think HPS is bad at all. for one thing, i can see much better under HPS than MV. under MV, everhything seems dim, even under 400w. HPS just is brighter for me. but i love the color in MV.
I want a ceramic metal halide. to see it. the only ceramic lamps i have are the HPS lamps... lol
