It does not seem to be a problem, and we are not in a hurry to move exclusively to the latest and greatest technology in each of the given examples. Part of the reason is, that each have their own advantages, convenience, simplicity of use and so on

In regards to the PC example, indeed we have not had it for centuries, but it is also very rapidly advancing technology compared to most of the other examples. In perspective, the way how computer technology advanced in a decade is on the same order as how something else advanced in a century

I was able to find the same brand/model of LED i took apart.

Same thing happened here, I had 2 Walmart LEDs in my kitchen and one of them started flickering. I changed it out but then a few days later I had to replace the other one since it was dead! Now there are CFLs installed but I still have the crap LED bulbs.
