Hi,

Are there three generations of the OV-25 Silverliner? How can you tell them apart?

There are actually five generations.

The first version of the OV25 rolled out in 1957 and lasted until 1964.  These were known as the "flatbottom" Silverliners.

The Second version was known as the "transitional" Silverliner because it was the first of the single door Westies but the P-cell receptacle was in the forward position.

The Third version was from 1965-1970 and had the P-cell more in the middle.  Also, early on, the "shallow bowl" refractor was offered with this version.

The Fourth version was also the last of the familiar Silverliners with the P-cell all the way back (1970-1978).

The fifth version was the compact boxy style that carried over to the Crouse-Hinds era.  This version was also known as the L-250, but catalogue and package designations were OV-25.

The stubby remote OV-25 is considered a Silverliner because it IS the same model, just a different configuration.

Another thing to add.....the OV-25 Tudor was from the 70s all the way to the mid-80s.....the Tudors were the powerdoor versions of Westinghouse, but somehow they did make "Split door Tudor versions", Dave the Silverliner owns one...the split door version....
