H46 mercury ballast « on: March 22, 2018, 09:31:49 AM » Author: GEm1000
These things are impossible to find! Anyone have a 50 watt H46 mercury ballast they're willing to sell? Someone on ebay currently. Has a lot of 7 of them with capacitors but doesn't want to sell them individually I guess (I emailed srller asking for 1 or 2 of them and got no reply).

Here's a 50w F-can for $55 with free shipping ( never even knew 50w f-can ballasts existed, these must be even rarer than the open frame ballasts). Could you post the link to the other ballasts? I can't find it.

If you don't have any luck, I have an extra 50w MV ballast I might be able to sell. I have been holding onto it as a display piece (already have another 50w MV ballast I am using in a homemade fixture) but if you want it I could probably sell or trade for it.

I think I saw that one on there but it's too big, I want to be able to put a ballast in a small floodlight. If you have an extra H46 ballast, let me know how much you would let it go for, I would trade but I have no collection anymore and haven't since 2010, lost my entire collection of lamps and fixtures...

That's the link to the lot of 7 H46 ballasts. Pretty pricey, they're used, $125 for the lot and $52 for shipping. That's more than I'm willing to pay and more than I need (even though It would be nice to have them all)

a 50 watt metal halide ballast, with the ignitor disconnected, may also work.

A 35w ballast would work better. 50w will overdrive it and make the lamp dim faster.
