What kind of trucks do you like? « on: April 07, 2018, 11:51:18 PM » Author: HomeBrewLamps
I have recently found the model of the truck I've always liked the looks of, I used to see alot more of them out and about and was like "Hey, thats a nice looking truck!". I've never took much of a liking to modern trucks, I prefer older 70's and 80's stuff... My "dream" vehicle is a 1970 Ford F-250. I am curious as to what ya'll's preferences are..

Funny enough, my "dream" truck would be a 1960 F-250.  ;D

Not a bad looking model thats for sure, not really my style as I prefer the more "boxy" look of the 70's 80's models, but I certainly have a respect for the older 60's trucks, I've seen a few of those driving about but they certainly are not as common nowadays... Unfortunatly... same for the 70's model... not too common nowadays..

I'm mostly into the newer ones, my "dream" truck would probably be a 2008-2012 GMC Sierra SLT 4 door or Chevy Silverado LTZ 4 door. The newer ones, I don't like the interiors of. I wouldn't mind having a 2009-2012 Dodge Ram Laramie 4 door either.

I like the 1990s trucks too, Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet.

In addition, I like the older compact Nissan trucks from the 1980s and 90s.

Those aren't bad looking vehicles, My father has a 2012 Colorado, seems to be doing him well, I've not had any experience with Silverado's.. I will admit, I do kind of like the look of the Colorado.

Those 1990's model Nissan trucks are interesting, I've seen alot of those around here. they are neat looking, not quite my style but still neat looking.

We don't have much in terms of American trucks in Australia. We have the Ford Ranger.

I'm thinking of buying a brand new Isuzu D-Max for road trips.

There are a lot of vehicle types that the Americans calling "Truck", while in fact they aren't really considered "trucks" in the narrow sense of the word. These vehicles include like the ones posted on this thread (In most part of the western world it is called simply "Pickup", in Australia and New Zealand "Ute" and here in Israel "Tender" (טנדר)), vans, off-road vehicles like Willys MB, the HMMWV and the Hummer, etc...

Usually the truck is just short for pickup truck. Though some call cargo vans trucks as well as SUV. Although, often the case with cargo vans and SUVs are based on trucks. Such as Expedition based on F-150 and Explorer was based on the Ranger at one time.

We did have the Ranger here, but it never was updated much since the 80s and 90s and it was discontinued several years ago.

The Izusu above we have here, mostly seen as the new Colorado and Canyon trucks. Plus we had the Izusu version of the S-10/Sonoma and the older Colorado/Canyon. But the GM versions were much more common. Just as the case we had the Mazda version of the Ranger and the Mitsubishi version of the Dakota.

I like these trucks
http://www.chevrolet.com/content/dam/chevrolet/na/us/english/index/vehicles/2018/trucks/silverado-1500/colorizer/01-images/2018-silverado-ld-2lz-gaz.jpg?imwidth=1200
The Ford F-150 Raptor
Any Semi-Truck
Any trucks from 1960-1999 are of my interest too
Any truck that can pull up to 2 or more tons (I'm talking about everyday trucks)
Any truck that has a mean and angry engine sound

Thats a neat looking vehicle, It looks different from the vehicles they advertise here usually. Also yeah Dor, we usually just shorten Pickup Truck to Truck, simpler to say since there is only one syllable..

I like Peterbilt`s 281, especially this one ;D, dor123 makes a valid point too, this is what we would also call a `truck` in the UK

not a bad looking Isuzu.  We don't have Isuzu here in the USA anymore save for their boring medium duty boring cab over commercial box trucks.

Although trucks don't interest me all that much, (those ones in the beginning of this thread are awesome though)
I'm more of a fan of the diesel ones. Cummins diesel, powerstroke diesel... things of that nature.
My dream truck is the F650 and F750 pickup. Always has been since I was a kid... and I've only seen
the F650 in person, only one time in my life.
I'm also a fan of certain semi trucks as well... but I'm only a fan of them if they're loud.

When it comes to trucks, I've driven and owned a good number.  GMC/Chevy have treated me the best and given me the least amount of issues, so I am a bit partial to them, at least up until 2014.  I haven't owned anything newer than a 2014.

Classic (never owned one)

late 70s/early 80s Style: (never owned one)

GMT-700 series:

GMT-800 series.
I had one that looked like this.  2005 GMC Sierra.  It was a GREAT truck.  Also had a 1999 maroon Chevy Silverado, also a great truck.

GMT-900 (2007-2013)
I got me a brand new 2007 Sierra at the end of 2007 and it looked a lot like this.  It was a great truck.  Traded it in for a Diesel when my needs changed.

GMT-900 Diesel Traded the 07 Sierra 1500 in on an 08 Sierra 2500HD Duramax.  My first personal use Diesel.  Drove a lot of work truck diesels prior to that, Ford and Dodge.  The Duramax Engine/Allison Transmission combo made it the best diesel and still is in my opinion.  The 7.3L Power Stroke was a great engine too, but everything else around it sucked, including Ford's automatic and manual transmissions.  Same thing with the Cummins, though not as reliable of an engine, and even worse reliability when it came to the transmissions and everything else around it.

I've had a few other trucks but the ones listed above were my favorites.

Currently without a truck and I'll be in the market to get me another truck in the next year, I'm probably going to go back and get me a 99-2006ish GMC Sierra.  Too much electronic crap on vehicles now a days.  Too many things monitoring what you are doing/listening in on you and I won't have any part of it.

Those are all very nice. A friend I had used to have a 99 Silverado LS extended cab and it was a very nice truck. Plus someone else I know has a 2008 or late 2007 Silverado LTZ crewcab 4WD which is also a great truck and they got it new.

I mostly like the 2007-2013 Silverado LTZ and Sierra SLT because they have the nicest interior I think. I don't care for the interiors in the newer ones and the interior in the LS and LT models I don't like as much as the SLT/LTZ.

I like the 90s GMT-700 series too. It's rare to see these in a crewcab here though and even rarer on the 70s and 80s models. Though I did see what I think was late 60s F-150 crewcab sometime last year which was an interesting sight. Finally, I also like the 2007-2013 Chevy Suburban/Tahoe and GMC Suburban/Tahoe, but they're just way too big. They have the interior like the LTZ/SLT trucks though.

On the Fords, they're okay, but I don't like the styling on the new ones as much or the interiors as the Chevy and Dodge. Although my neighbors has a Ford F-150 crewcab King Ranch and it's really nice. Plus another neighbor used to have a 1998 Ford F-150 extended cab Lariat that was nice. My grandpa had a 97 F-150 XL, just a regular cab base though and it was when they first changed the body.

Pretty much, I have to stick to cars though because trucks are way too expensive. And if I got one it would have the be a base model which I don't want or a regular cab, which I do not like the newer regular cabs at all because there's no room to move around much or store anything if it rains. Plus the crewcabs I think look better on the newer ones.
