Is this worth the price (SOX lamps) « on: February 01, 2019, 09:29:55 PM » Author: HomeBrewLamps
I'm feeling like I'm in a bit of a pickle due to the impending cease of production of LPS lamps. I never had one and don't feel like being left in the dust once they become "endangered" I looked around the internet and I found bulk cases (12 pack) of 35 and 18 watt lamps at home depot for around 450-470 dollars each. The very thought of spending such a large amount of money (I want to get both 35 and 18 watt variants Atleast!!!) is a bit of a stomach churner but at the same time stocking up on such lamps seems like a good idea.. Thoughts, help suggestions, pointers, anything would be appreciated. After this I need to get my hands on gear. And I don't plan to purchase anything right away as I am broke but after i get a job I may put these in a priority list among other things (if I can even afford to... I honestly probably won't be able to due to actual responsibilities such as rent, cars food etc)

I'm kindof annoyed and saddened by the fact that they will cease manufacturing.

I might be able to call Philips about their LPS equipment, but it could be tricky. Anyway, I think it might be worth it to get a case, but only if you have enough money.

Dont worry about LPS gear too much,  but  yes gwt the lamps while you can.  the gear for lamps will sit around but not having lamps around make the LPS ballast a door stopper

No LED gadgets, spins too slowly.  Gotta  love preheat and MV. let the lights keep my meter spinning.
