Fluorescent Light Bulbs Current Rating « on: March 12, 2019, 08:14:52 AM » Author: rjluna2
I was wondering about these current rating for different types of bulbs.

Bi-Pin T12 Bulbs: 430 mA
Old Slimline T6 Bulbs: 200 mA
RDC High Output T12 Bulbs: 800 mA
RDC Very High Output T12/T17 Bulbs: 1500 mA

Let me know if I have left out anything else.

T12 40W 2' / 80W 5' : 800mA
Could it be compatible with our HO (800 mA) ballast?

Possibly. But can the ballast handle the arc voltages ? (esp. 60-ish V for the 40W)

If there is a Preheat ballast for tubes around the 80W spec (approx 800mA 110V), it might be possible to run 2 of the 40W tubes in series with FS-2 starters

Source for T5 HE current rating : https://www.vossloh-schwabe.com/uploads/tx_sbdownloader/VS_KVG-Starter-System_2012a_GB.pdf

Source for T5 HO current rating : PL-L current ratings, since they are interchangeable on the same ballasts (for HF ballasts). The ratings are not uniform throughout the PL-L range, they tend to be higher as the lamp wattage is higher
