What about aftermarket car MH ballasts without protections?
I doubt there are any. The thing is in order for the ballast to work at least somehow and to be cheap at the same time, you have to use one of the dedicated ICs as their controller. And these already contain the protection logic, it is tyere and not designed to be disabled.
And because fooling this logic by the circuit around makes the circuit more complex and expensive than simply wiring it in, guess what approach the cheepee maker will use...
