That's just an error, be assured NO mercury vapot lamps contain mercury :-)

By the way another similar error I have seen is that the Feit HPS lamps made in China have the R symbol. This symbol is only required on HID lamps that emit UV and don't fail after lamp breakage, which are MV and MH. Special ones that go out after glass breakage have the T symbol. So it's weird seeing the R on a HPS lamp!

Sounds like either a printing error or they just use the same warning sheet with both HPS and MV lamps.

Form 109, I have the same error on my Caster lamp package. I thought at first it was a translation error (I read the french instructions first, that's too funny to read....), but the error gets repeated in english.

i had a Phillips MV lamp that was 175 watt and it said on the box to use it only in a H37 ballast which i think is 250 watt. it seems to work fine on a H39 and the bulb says 175....

I had one of those, it was a Philips brand. I dont have the box anymore but it said the same thing. The lamp it's self said H39. If it's a 175 watt merc, it is H39. Just a typo.

In this case putting an H39 lamp on H37 ballast can cause the lamp to explode, especially with a chinese lamp.
