Weird holes in the fluorescent tube phosphor coating « on: September 01, 2020, 08:24:50 AM » Author: The Lightman
Hello,

I have some fluorescents wich have strange holes in the phosphor coating. I'm asking me where does it come from?
Is it possible that the mercury has combined with the phosphorus from being stored for too long?
I can see the phenomenon in lamps that have been stored for a very long time or have not been used often.
I would be very happy about your answers.
So far no one has known an answer.

Are those 34 watt lamps?   I iUsually see this on philips and GE 34 watt lamps.  This cause by under powered ballast when the lamps are cold it sputters off emission
That burns the phosphor on the lamp.
