Does anyone agree with me that S52 HPS and M141 MH are interchangeable? « on: October 12, 2020, 05:58:04 PM » Author: WorldwideHIDCollectorUSA
After seeing sailormoon_01_uk’s posts where he operated US 1000w S52 HPS lamps on a ballast that would normally operate US 1000w M47 MH lamps on 240v 50hz in the UK by adding an ignitor to the circuit, I seem to come to the conclusion that US 1000w M141 pulse start MH bulbs are electrically interchangeable with US 1000w S52 HPS lamps. He also did operate H36 and M47 bulbs on that ballast too and I also seem to imagine that some people operated a H36 mercury lamp on a M141 ballast by disconnecting the ignitor. Does anyone actually believe that S52 and M141 are electrically interchangeable with each other just like S56 is electrically interchangeable with M102? M141 lamps do run at 265v 4.0a while S52 lamps operate at 265v 4.2a.

As long as the ballast specs are within tolerance of each other they should work, i've also heard you can run 1kw MV lamps on a 1kw HPS ballast, but have never tried it myself (mostly because i don't have any 1kw MV lamps to try it with).
