Does the California incandescent bulb ban include incandescent Christmas lights « on: October 19, 2020, 02:21:28 PM » Author: WorldwideHIDCollectorUSA
I wonder if the California incandescent bulb ban prevents the sale of incandescent Christmas lights such as the C7 and C9 strings that have E12 amd E17 lampholders respectively?

No, it does not prevent the sale of incandescent Christmas lights or replacement lamps for them. The ban applies to general service incandescent lamps (such as A shaped lamps, 3-way lamps under 150w, and reflector lamps), and certain kinds of decorative or special use lamps. All lamps under 25w are exempt from the ban. Decorative lamps over 40w are banned, but lamps under that wattage are still sold. Appliance lamps, “vintage style lamps” and headlight lamps are still allowed in all wattages. Also, the ban only applies to stores such as grocery, home improvement, and hardware stores. Thrift stores and certain websites, such as eBay, can ship to California.

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it.
I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.

I did notice that Amazon can ship some illegal bulbs to CA while it cannot ship others.

After checking amazon, I have noticed that it tells me that the California 2020 incandescent bulb ban has C7 and C9 Christmas light bulbs and strings included.

No where in the following link mentions Christmas C7 and C9 bulbs, so they are not banned in California. Some Amazon sellers just have it all wrong about having all incandescents banned, while some others who do ship types of bulbs to California they’re not supposed to.

It's the same on eBay, sellers either make genuine mistakes in what they're listing, or they'll do it to deliberately mislead you.  :curse:
