What's your preference? I personally prefer incandescent fog both multicolored and warm white categories. If I want cool white I use LED BUT only fully rectified sets.
I hate the saturated cold color of led christmas lights and the tacky fake warm white leds produce.
I pretty much agree totally.
I will say, in an effort to preserve my vintage NOS Christmas lights, I have been purchasing a limited quantity of C7 LED bulbs that have very good color quality. I don't buy LED minis because the colored ones are over-saturated, and the incan clears are still cheap enough to run, I don't see the value in using LED for whites (unless cool white). I have even bought some twinkling LED C7's that I am quite happy with.
We have 2 Christmas trees, a 9' artificial that goes in the front window, and a 6-7' real tree in our den. The 9' tree gets the LED (that look almost as good as incan) C7 lights, and the tree in the den gets the real vintage stuff like C-6 and C-7 with bubblers, lighted ice, etc.
Generally, any lights that we will see often are incan, any lights for the neighbors to see (like the 9' tree) are LED.
As for Halloween, this is one area I do actually think LED is better because incan never did purple well, the LED minis look better. However, I very rarely use "Christmas lights" for Halloween. I actually dislike the idea of string lights for Halloween. Seems like a rip-off of Christmas.
