Unfortunately , the biggest issue with shipping a M-1000 would be cost !  I recently shipped a OV-25 with no ballast or refractor and it was over $150 !  I'd guess a complete M-1000  would be at least $250-300 for just shipping , maybe even more !  :sadbulb:

@ wide-lite 1000,

Yes, very true about shipping cost and I am just hoping there someday one nearby not too bad. But the truth our dollars are worthless.

What you could do is put up a square pole and install a 1,000W shoebox since an M-1000 is extremely difficult to find and ship. Maybe try searching around town to see if any 1,000W shoeboxes are still installed and, if possible, try to contact the owner and find out if they're willing to replace them or not.

If that's too difficult, I'd just put up an LED (a good quality fixture, avoid the eBay junk). You'd get better color rendering and probably better optical distribution, too.

This AEL Series ATBM, for example. It's inexpensive, has free shipping, quality components, and it's multi-tap, so it'll work on any voltage up to 277V.

With the M-1000, you'll need 480V in order for it to work efficiently. It'll use a lot of amps if it's anything under 277V.

  Not really ! I run my 1000w Wide-Lite on 240v and it only draws 4.9 amps !

Yea I could go for shoeboxes fixtures... But I try not look like a crazy SpongeBob guy. LED? its big no for me and I never like them very much even they have better watt but they tend fail sooner than old faithful GE M1000. Perhaps I have to buy my own bucket truck and might try able get old GE M1000 heads if owner allows for swap to LED fixture.

Pretty much nothing will last as long as an M-1000. This is 2023, not 1973. Sooner or later, you will have to accept that LED street lights are the norm now. The technology is improving and there are good quality LED fixtures out there. I know of several LED area lights that are 8 years old now and have not had any problems.
