What Is The Worst Part Of Your City District? « on: April 23, 2025, 06:53:56 PM » Author: Eleco_SR304
I've always wondered why Cities would always have a bad district. Well, I understood in my later life, crimes, rubbish on roads, buildings like from the 50s. Well, I would like to know what is the worst district of your city and the good/safe district of your city. If you don't live in one (like me), just give your town or the closest city you live in.

I will give my example. I live near Coventry. The worst district you can imagen is Hillfields and the rest of the east. The west of Coventry is safe, and is not that chaotic as the east. For Birmingham, I have no clue, but all I know from what I've seen is rubbish everywhere...

Anything like this in your city district?

Usually I collect bulbs (Mostly LED) and some HID ones. I also own a couple of streetlights, but most are made in Poland.

However, I mostly prefer SOX bulbs. LED bulbs in their efficacy will never beat SOX bulbs, in my opinion.

I live down in Canberra (Australia), which is generally regarded as a very safe place, but there are some places such as Dickson and Civic which are quite dodgy at night (there are numerous vomit spots on the pavement around civic, which is packed full of bars and nightclubs! There are also some spots in alleyways which have been re-purposed as toilets...)

...seems your area is a bit worse than Hillfields and the east. Mostly in the East you can also buy a lot of things that are cheap but also they have a very short date of lasting. I remember going to Lido, some things were already past few months! We also went to one shop, it was getting dark. Trust me, they all were just waiting for you to get out of your car. Thankfully, nothing happened serious but it's best to stay safe and avoid these districts. I always visit the west. It's a little bit scary at night but at least there aren't many metal shutters and so many houses crammed up together. The west of Coventry feels like being in Rugby  :)

I also remember visiting a Alpha 3 when all streetlights were turning on (plus they were Philips Iridiums with HPS yes) and when I took all angles of the Alpha 3...I saw someone running behind, I didn't know who was it at first, so basically my car was closed so I ran to my car, but before I reached it, I quickly took a pic of fluorescent tubes and then ran back. But when I went to my car, he was someone running randomly. Most likely a jogger I believe. This happened in Bishopton Green (south east), still this district is quite unsafe...at night. But thankfully nothing happened serious. No one walked past me though while I was taking pics of the Alpha 3.

That's the absolute worst of Canberra, I feel completely safe walking around at night, even in Civic.

In my town the only bad part I’m aware of is an area to the north of the train station. It’s well known as a drug dealing area and lots of police arrests happen in those streets, especially Lennon.

Recently I went to the train station to take pics of the new radial wave lights, and then I crossed onto Railroad street where the railroad maintenance yard is. From there I had to turn left on Lennon briefly to get to the main road and make another left.

When I was going to turn on Lennon, I looked right and saw a car in the street with a bunch of people crowded around and they all stared at me, fortunately I wasn’t going that way. But it was very unnerving, as I had to wait for the traffic light on Lennon to turn green before I could move forward.

I wouldn’t recommend driving on Lennon or anywhere in that area! To the north of there where the mission is isn’t quite as bad, but it’s still a rough looking area. Out where the main road passes by the other end of Lennon has been fixed up with brick sidewalks and reproduction acorn lampposts but it’s still a strange area with liquor stores and people lingering about that I wouldn’t want to drive at night.

That block or so is the only area I know of here that’s the worst.

Off the highway there’s a couple of blocks of older houses that are quite runs down. I don’t think there’s really any crime there, but the houses are mostly old and poorly kept with over grown yards and junk everywhere. A few of the houses are kept nicely, but it’s a depressing area and always has been.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

In Rugby, the worse part is New Bilton. It may look like a nice district but trust me, it's not. At the start of January 2025, a crime has happened- I'm not going to say the crime, as it horrible. It came from a polish family surprisingly. I do not know what the parents were thinking, but the worst district you will meet in Rugby...

Birmingham is another city, popular for committing crimes. There are some districts (don't know the name) that if you enter, WARNING: YOU SHOULD GET OUT OF THAT DISTRICT IMMEDIATELY! Birmingham isn't really a good place to visit, as there are rubbish bags all over pathways and roads. There's one district (alum Rock) that had the rubbish all over the pathway, and guess why? The people who collect trash strike...but I got off topic here.

Usually If you visit Birmingham, watch a couple of videos before you enter that district. Because if you enter too far, it means that is the end of you...

West Midlands is best to avoid in UK. Same goes to West Yorkshire, probably the 1st county that had the most crimes and is bad, especially Leeds, where most crimes happen, and don't get me started what happens In Westminster in London...

For Milwaukee, it’s the North Division neighborhood, where the violent crime rate is 5,261 for every 100,000 people. There are other violent neighborhoods in the city as well, where cars get broken into and one wrong move is a death sentence.

...I went to check the crime rate around Birmingham areas...

Dates from 13th December 2024:

Birmingham city centre: 349.9 per 1000 people. Focused concerns are violent crimes, thefts and shoplifting-WTF

Bordesley Green: 290.1 per 1000. Focused concerns are violent crimes (1,875 incidents),  public order offences and vehicle thefts. #####
Aston & Newton: 241.1 per 1000. Focused concerns are violent crimes (2,469 incidents), public order offences and vehicle thefts.????

Seriously, we live in this country that has many crimes. Everyone here, just stop the goddamn crimes as live your own life...

The statistics say "Birmingham City Centre" ranks to be unsafest part in Birmingham.

Towns are usually fine, still depends how big it is. There's one town in Germany, where I visit for Holiday, that has many old buildings. They are getting destroyed. It's scary at night. Once I remember when I went out for a walk...It's best to not walk in these areas, especially near the city centre. Thankfully I visit the area where it is more safer but at night I wouldn't recommend.

Generally looking at the crime rates, England, France, Germany and Sweden are the most scariest countries to live in, and the most dangerous also. I live in England, and to be honest, the most part where crimes happen is London, West Midlands, Blackpool and West Yorkshire I believe.

In some parts of France and Sweden, were crimes happen, the police doesn't enter some of the areas, as the police is very scared of these areas. I'd say the best safest place to live in is for example Thailand, where less crimes happen and it's a good place to live in. Expensive also in these countries.

In Portland, it's the Hollywood district. It's notorious for high crime and a great number of tents.
Since they legalized hard drugs for about five years, it's also ridden with bodies in extreme positions from doing fent.
Unfortunately, it's been that way for over 30 years at this point, so things are unlikely to change. Hopefully
the police will be able to force more people into rehab, as they finally changed the law legalizing drugs (now
you have to go to jail or rehab, vs a $100 fine like it was before).

Crime and our city of Solothurn. Generally all cities in our country are safe. There are some very minor incidents with crime around places where drunken clubbers appear late at nights but generally it is safe to walk at night at every part of our city and country.

Germany a scary country? Are you kidding? Really?

Anecdotally, the one and only time I was kinda harassed by street crime in Europe was in Geneve (!). You know, when a group of young people tries to distract you by waving hands and yelling stupid things, and at the same time someone picks your pocket. Not even at night, close to the center of the city. I had just nothing to pickpocket ) and get away plainly ignoring them, no problem. Most likely a visiting gang from neighboring France, though...

Yep, Germany is scary to be honest. A lot of crimes happen in the West. Don't know what sort of crimes happen but a lot is happening in the West.

Also, Bristol (England) has crimes happening. It's also quite a slum area. Once I remember when my dad told me a story when he was in Bristol, at night. Of course, there is many road closures so he had to get off the M32. When he drived by, some girls were waving at him  :wndr: >:D not quite sure why but on the next day the same thing happened  @-@
