I don't think that the actual lifespan of HPS lamps, is affected by humidity and temperature. I think they mean useful lifespan when they said 5000 hours. I think in greenhouses, the HPS lamps are replaced before they reaches actual EOL.

But the 400w and 1000w HPS lamps I have seen say 8000 to 10000 hours lifespan. Are the horticulture HPS lamps different from general HPS lamps?

@LightsAreBright27: Horticulture HPS lamps have usually higher xenon pressure and more mercury in the sodium amalgam.
