Actually I use phone with LineageOS and I'm not going to change that.
BTW LineageOS is the succesor of CyanogenMod

I'm curious, what about legacy OSes? There's still thousands of people who use windows 7 and other out of support OSes worldwide. Even windows 10 will be out of support in some months.
Would they be exempt from this? Is there a chance devices with older OSes would be blocked from using the web as they "cannot comply with age verification laws"?


(I'm just preparing in case this "age verification" thing becomes global)

I wonder how they're going to implement this, I doubt legacy OSes such as Windows 8.1 and older will be patched on the OS side to have such a feature, and I'm pretty sure open source OSes such as Linux kernel will get patched or forked to remove this ID check verification.

Unfortunately it seems to go with the current trend of more and more online services requiring proof of ID to use their services...which also conveniently allows them to store your ID and make it vulnerable to security breaches from them or whatever 3rd party vendor they used for the ID verification...Discord being a good example ironically.

I think OS-based verification will finally repeal (at least on desktop) as being a combo of stupid and intrusive. Sky is not falling.

BTW it seems that Discord has clarified its policy as applying age id specifically only for their adult forums. OK if one really wants some unlimited porn, VPN to the rescue. Today's VPN evolved so tough that are hard to eradicate even under deeply undemocratic regimes like Russia or China...
