Half Piper in the sky....or so it seems « on: March 30, 2012, 05:35:40 PM » Author: Powell
I hate these tall ceilings in the radio station. We have one of the 2 remaining half pipers over the 2 transmitters here at the radio station. I had brough my 2 daylight CXL lamps as they were refusing to light reliably on rapid start, and the offending bulb had made a LARGE black spot after not quite a thousand hours. So into preheat service they went.  I noticed 2 more black spots, on  other side of the original one and a small one had started on the other end where there was only some brown aging. I noticed that one was really growing, so I replaced the lamp. I found the sockets are really cranky and finally got the new CXL lamp working. I will take some pictures of the spots on the CXL POS lamp tonight.
