H38 ballast and bulb wanted « on: June 21, 2020, 12:28:26 PM » Author: Bulbman256
Hey lg! so i am almost done moving and when i am i  will start a project that is a board with an 100w h38 mv ballast and lamp with a switch. I want to get a good classic merc bulb (nothing special, i don't really care for phosphor type and clear would also be acceptable. I just want something classic and dependable unlike the new china bulbs ) Optional would be a proper h38 ballast that can run on 120v (i know i can use a 70w psmh ballast with ignitor delete but would like something completely spec correct.) Thanks for any offer althoug i dont ahve a paypal and the like so trading and if your near my area or coming thru kansas city then cash drop off/pickups would be good.  :)

Thanks, i do need a recommendation of the lamp and i want a westy lifegard although phosphor type is not an issue or a a23 coated bulb ( the clears are hard to find and wayy pricer.) The Westy or other good reliable lamp is fine in clear too if that a little cheaper.

If you can't find vintage lamps, I would go with EYE/Iwasaki for modern lamps, they're pretty decent for modern lamps and you can get them in medium and mogul based, both coated and clear.

Would this work ? It's probably 70's-early 80's .   https://www.ebay.com/itm/Westinghouse-Lifeguard-H38MP-100-DX-100W-Mercury-Vapor-Light-Bulb-Lamp-USA/161402597112

I got one of these last month, it’s from 1976. Very good quality H38 mercury lamp, and I’d recommend it if you want a lifeguard.

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it.
I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.
