Last week anyways . I swapped out the Lithonia Pre-heat twin F8T5 fixture in my kitchen ( https://www.lighting-gallery.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=5198&pos=217&pid=169890 ) for a no name F14T5 instant start fixture I got from ReStore for $3 . The Lithonia kept eating the same lamp and I got tired of replacing it . The new fixture came with a Keystone 841 T5 tube and a ElCheapo Keystone electronic ballast ( the one that is just a circuit board mounted on a plate with a piece of plastic around it so someone can't electrocute themselves . The new fixture uses less wattage and is brighter .

Took down a couple Christmas trees, as I removed the lights I went through each set & replaced any dead LEDs before putting it away.

Today, I almost got a heart attack thinking all my violet and UV leds and lasers were dying. Instead of a bright purple spot, there were only dim white spots. Then I realised my new glasses came with a UV protective coating...

Well, today I had to discard some fluorescent tubes, not by choice, but due to no room. I am still a bit sad about the T12s which had only slight wear marks, but i kept the rare coloured tubes

Back after yet another break due to personal reasons and a house move. Got some hauls from during the break that I need to post alongside some other lighting related items.

@Baked bagel 11 Yes I have. Most of my collection is stored at my parents factory but will eventually come to the new house once my new work area is ready. At the moment, it's being used to store the lawn mower, some of my dad's motorbikes and a few garden tools.

The ballast in one of my fish lights EOL'ed today. First I figured it was just a dead lamp, but changing them made no difference. So I just swapped out the whole light (& put original lamps back in)
The other light I took apart (which it wasn't made to do). What an overall cheezy thing. Plastic cover over the lamps is thin & flimsy (and alittle melted where ends of the lamps are). The lampholders simply sit inplace. Ballast is just a circuitboard wrapped in clear plastic..
There's no way I could fit a 'real' ballast in it. If I was to fix, I'd have to mount a new ballast on the outside. I don't know if I'll even bother, or just junk the whole unit.

Installed a 2xF40 & a 2xF30 fixtures in a shed (space wasn't long enough for a pair of F40 fixtures). They're just wired as a plug-in since I have no plans to run power to the shed.
Ideally such things should be converted to electronic ballasts so they'd fire up reliably in cold... but the chances that I'd even be going in that shed during winter are pretty minimal, so kept 'em as magnetic RS.

Sometimes life works out in interesting ways. I was trying to buy a couple of water permeable pavers for my backyard. I was annoyed, DIY shop 1 didn't have them in stock. I went on my way to get home. Took a wrong turn and wasn't able to turn with the bicycle trailer on the cycle path. So i continued, which so happened to be in the direction of DIY shop 2 so i thought 'Might as well see if they have some'. They didn't have them either, but i checked out the lamp bin and YOINK!
A WORKING 20W PHILIPS COLOR 27 TUBE! A.k.a. Incandescent Fluorescent.
Left 2 standard color 33 20w t12's there.
