Maybe seller isn't familiar with lighting equipment.

I messaged the seller to tell them these lamps are not new and I told them what they were. They replied back rudely in all caps and said I WOULD NOT BUY THEM THEN. THEY ARE OLD.

What an ass. Would anybody else like to message this jerk and tell them the same thing teach him a lesson? Just tell them what I told them. They are not what the box says and they are used metal halide lamps.

I think you can report ad as fake or spam.Be careful, rude sellers are jerks which sell fake or damaged products.

Yeah I just looked there is a report item button. I don't know if I feel comfortable reporting it now though. He will likely know I was the one who reported it because I messaged him. Unless somebody else messages him too.

Doesn't matter if the seller "knows" you reported them. They have no recourse against you.
Only if you've purchased something can they give a negative comment to your eBay reputation

A message about someone informing the seller about the lamp condition and type is now added.

Ah they must have recently added that. Good that they edited their listing. Bad that they're selling used lamps for more than what I can get them for new lol.

Sellers like that will only learn one way.... by getting negative feedback for false advertising and a forced refund in an ebay world where buyers can easily get refunded by force
