Today I had to share a seat on two busses with a lantern and won an auction for a vintage amber 'acorn' revolving beacon in the process. @-@

Turned off the wallpack yard light and fired up the Christmas lights for the year.  Have them plugged into outlets in the eaves of my house, controlled by a timer.  Had to climb up and plug the lights back in, since their outlets got repurposed last summer for mosquito traps.  Final step was correcting the time and enabling the timer.

I've been busy finishing off my Christmas light display.
A few more tweaks and it'll be good to go. The previous 2 nights have been test runs and tonight will hopefully be the first run of the finished display.

Took down my Philips HPS grooved head and put up my Lithonia Metal Halide yard light.  I got my first MH fixture around Jan of 2008, but this is the first time that I've used one to light my yard.

I haven't been doing much lately as I've been very busy but I have finished my Christmas light display. Tonight I will be refilming the walkthrough video as the first one was rather rushed and my mum's car was blocking a section of the display from view.

All lighting except LED rules!

Today I bought a preheat 2 lamp F15T8 desk lamp at a local thrift store and when I got it home I had to replace the sockets because the old ones literally turned to dust. But now that the sockets have been replaced the light works like a charm!  :a_fluor:

Scored a pair of free 2 lamp F40T12 preheat fluorescent tube shoplight fixtures. Sadly, one of them came with a Westy F34CW, but I hope the ballasts in these fixtures are good since I have not tested the fixtures.

I replaced the EOLed old Philips CFLs in my room today with the amazingly efficient IKEA LEDs .
The original Philips Essential CFL was 8W/865 and the lumen output was 400 lumens.
The replacement IKEA LED is 5.9 (6) W/940, and the lumen output is 806 lumens.
The wattage is 75% of the original, but the brightness is 212% of the original!

Removed the instant start T8 ballast and LED tubes from the wooden box fluorescent fixture in my pantry and restored it to its rapid start T12 glory.
